We thought you would enjoy hearing more about our Grade 4–6 students’ “Fan Tastic Sensor”, which won First Place in Innovation at the Ratchaburi Private School Academic Fair earlier this week! Their smart fan automatically adjusts its speed according to room temperature — no need to switch it on or off! Our young engineers programmed sensors, collected temperature data, and calibrated the fan’s response at different levels:
Below 28°C — the fan stays off
28°C — fan speed level 1
29–30°C — fan speed level 2
Above 30.1°C — fan speed level 3
Through coding, testing, and real data collection, students learned how sensors and logic-based programming can make everyday life more efficient. Their design also helps save energy, since the fan only operates when the temperature is high — a smart and sustainable solution!
These hands-on projects show how our teachers are putting Dr. Stuart Kohlhagen's 21st-century STEM learning into action — empowering students to apply innovative thinking to science, technology, and sustainability in meaningful ways. Congratulations to our young innovators for combining curiosity, coding, and teamwork to build something truly Fan-Tastic! See the fan in action here!
