Today is the UN’s International Day of Women and Girls in Science—promoting equal access to and participation in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math). In terms of technology, in Thailand, only 17% of children use technology for education, and boys tend to gain greater access. This trend is being reversed at DWS, and the school has gained national recognition as a result.
Through Acharn Yai’s vision, girls at DWS are not only using technology for learning, but are winning awards in coding, graphic design, software development, and robotics, and are pursuing university degrees and careers in these areas. Now, through a partnership with Microsoft Thailand, led by Supahrat Juramongkol, students are also becoming empowered with AI. In the classroom, a student-centered approach to learning integrates Microsoft Copilot AI while emphasizing critical thinking and ethics. This 21st-century approach to education has made national news, with reporting from multiple major outlets.
One such outlet, Techhub, powerfully writes about the school’s approach to education and impact in Thailand, “It is an important step in empowering girls to rise as leaders in the technology field and become a vital force in driving the country’s digital economy forward.” Please enjoy the full Techhub article here.
We extend our gratitude to Supahrat Juramongkol, AI Skills Director, and Jaruwan Vorarakthananun, Communications Lead at Microsoft Thailand, for making this very important partnership possible.
