At Dhammajarinee, classes have recently resumed after the mid-semester break. The scene on the day when students came back was a heartwarming return to community, and we thought you would enjoy these parents’ reflections of the atmosphere at the school on that day and the transformations they had witnessed in their girls in just a few short months since the new school year began.

One parent captured the feeling perfectly:

“I’m touched every time I see scenes like this: teachers standing, waiting to welcome students with warm smiles — like beloved elders in the family. Older students run up with smiles, politely greeting parents, and happily helping younger ones carry their bags as they return. It’s a small moment, but deeply moving. It’s an atmosphere filled with warmth — one that puts parents at ease, and makes the children feel that, ‘this is our second home.’

"Thank you to all the teachers, and thank you to all the older students who made Belle smile from the very first step back. But what I saw wasn’t just a child returning to school. It was the image of love waiting right there. Thank you to the school for not only teaching academics, but also teaching ‘the heart’ to every child. This place is not just a school — it’s Belle’s second home.”

Other parents shared more heartfelt reflections:

“My daughter has become such a lovely child. She’s thoughtful when she speaks, her manners are excellent, and when she comes home she happily shares how much she enjoys school. The seniors are very kind, there are many activities, the teachers are kind, and her studies have improved a lot. I’m extremely proud that she is studying here.”

“The teachers and everyone welcomed the children so well, and the children wanted to return to school; they all said they were happy.”

“Thank you to everyone at the school for welcoming the students back after a week visiting home. Thanks to the seniors who received the younger ones—so warm and caring. The children wanted to return and were eager to come back.”

Dhammajarinee Witthaya School is much more than just a place of learning. It is a community where children grow in both knowledge and kindness—a place they can truly call a second home.
