We are happy and excited to let you know that Dhammajarinee has recently received Royal School Recognition.
This rare honor involves extensive evaluations of every school program. All the students,  the faculty and administrators, as well as every aspect of the administrative records and finances are looked into carefully. This is a more rigorous evaluation than that conducted by the  Department of Education. Receiving this honor raises the school to a significantly higher level of respect and credibility. Thank you to everyone who has made this possible, and please enjoy a few pictures from the award day.

August 2017: Meditation Hall for 1000 Needed!

8/7/2017

PictureMore Room is Needed to Fit New Student Meditars
The number of students grew this year from 690 in 2016 to 775 in 2017. And the number of students practicing the TM-Sidhi Program is expected to grow this year from 397 in 2016 to 467 by the end of 2017. At present, the students use the assembly hall for group practice--each day furnishings are moved to allow for practice, and then replaced.
However, even with moving all the furnishings, this present room is not large enough to allow for the present number of students to do their group program together. For the school to achieve the goal of 1000 practicing the advanced TM-Sidhi program together, a larger meditation hall must be built soon.

A design for a new two story Vastu building has been created, which will allow students and faculty practicing TM to practice upstairs while 1000 students practicing TM-Sidhi program practice downstairs. The architect who proposed this design will be visiting the school again soon to finalize the design, location and begin to create the detailed specifications and precise price analysis.

The building with the needed interiors is estimated to be one million dollars. A campaign to fundraise for this large meditation hall will begin August 2017. Please everyone, think together to help us fulfill this most important facility to generate coherence and peace for Thailand and all of Southeast Asia

We are happy to report that 10 large washing machines have been ordered and will be delivered soon. One generous donor wanted to help, and after an analysis of the amount of current use and present number of students, it was felt that 10 large, home washers designed for heavy use would meet the demand at this time. These machines will save the girls time and reduce the cost of water for the school significantly.

The video below features an interview and a walk around the campus, which has grow impressively thanks to donor support over the last 7 years. The video is 19 min and in Thai, but we wanted to share it here for you to enjoy  the great images of the girls and the buildings. There are many shots of the pink classroom building completed a few years ago.

Acharn Yai recently received the “Outstanding Women in Buddhism Award 2017” from the International Buddhist Society for her work at the school. The entire international assembly of mostly Buddhist women monks was extremely impressed by her school and by the accomplishments of her students.
Acharn Yai invited the students who were awarded first place in the national competition of Buddhist chanting to make a presentation of chanting at the award event.  The impact of that beautiful chanting created a powerful atmosphere of peace. This following six minute video was prepared for the award ceremony and provides a clear overview of the school.

Washing Machines Needed

2/9/2017

The school uses public water, and pays exhorbitantly for water use. The girls wash their own clothes, which is challenging for the younger students to achieve a good standard of cleanliness and wastes precious resources of the school.  In order to bring the school to a higher standard in dealing with their growing numbers of students each year, industrial washing machines are needed.  The cost for two large industrial machines is $12,000, and presently $2,000 of this has been raised. $10,000 more is needed.

Our recent campaign to build a large  bathhouse was successful. Thanks to our wonderful donors, the girls have a new facility with 110 showers and 45 toilets. A generous donor provided matching funds for half of this facility and many others joined to help soon after. This development will provide comfortable accommodations for 400 more girls. (Interior view to the left, and exterior view below)
In addition, the new dorm was fully equipped this year with clothes closets, and efforts are being made to raise funds to provide bunk beds for 700 girls in the new dorm.
