Growing a Greener Future: Mangrove Restoration & Coastal Conservation

On September 18, our high school students took learning beyond the classroom with a hands-on environmental conservation experience focused on mangrove restoration and the sustainable recovery of native shellfish populations.

Students worked together to plant mangrove trees and release native shellfish back into the ecosystem—helping restore coastal habitats, support biodiversity, and care for the natural resources that local communities depend on.

They also joined community-based sustainability workshops, including:

• Waste sorting and recycling

• DIY shopping bags decorated with cockle shells

• Eco-printing with natural materials

• Exploring traditional uses of local herbs
  

By connecting environmental education with local knowledge and hands-on action, our students discovered how even small steps can make a meaningful difference—and how caring for nature can begin with simple actions in our own communities.
