A new four-storey dormitory is under construction and will be completed by 1 July when the students return. This building will house up to 900 students.
The Coronavirus problem has been very successfully contained in Thailand with only a few infections existing outside of Bangkok. Most of the students safely left the school in March for yearly summer vacation time, just before the lockdown became effective. Some of the girls had nowhere to go so remain on campus and are well taken care of. Most of the girls were able to return to their families or to their distant relatives, shelters, and orphanages from where they originally came. Acharn Yai feels the students benefit from the experience of a different environment and they come back even more excited about the wide range of opportunities at the school.
The Thai Government has announced schools to reopen 1st June.
In November the large 5500-square-meter Meditation Hall was completed. It was inaugurated on 14 November. This grand Maharishi Vastu building will provide an ideal structure to amplify the positive influence of harmony and coherence radiated by our students. Visitors comment on the power and grandeur of its Vastu design. With 650 Dhammajarinee students already practicing Transcendental Meditation and the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi program including Yogic Flying in this beautiful building, we feel certain that all of Asia will be nourished.
Dhammajarinee never gives up on its mission of providing a safe, healthy, protected, and progressive environment for girls who may have been victims of violence or abuse. Please join us in safeguarding the lives and future of these young girls by making a donation now.
How You Can Help: To continue to grow toward our goal of 1,500 students, two things are needed:
• Funds for the construction of a new dormitory
The construction cost of the new four-story dormitory building is $690,000. Many donations are needed to help make this happen.
• Sponsorship for new students
Each donation of $79 USD per month provides one student with room and board, including three healthy meals a day, a snack, and all utilities.
At the end of May, we began our new school year with 221 more students than last year for a total of 1,055 enrolled students.
Thanks to the widespread support of our cherished donors around the world, our new Classroom Building was completed and inaugurated in time for the new school year. The building is now in full use.
